The Secret to Juicy Air Fryer Burgers
The air fryer circulates hot air around the patty, sealing the outside while keeping the inside moist. The key is choosing the right meat: 80/20 Ground Beef (80% lean, 20% fat) is ideal. The fat renders out during cooking (dripping away into the basket), leaving you with a flavorful, tender patty that isn't dry.
Ingredients
The Meat: 1 lb (450g) Ground Beef (80/20 recommended).
The Seasoning:
1 tsp Salt.
½ tsp Black Pepper.
½ tsp Garlic Powder.
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (optional, for depth).
The "Bun": Large Iceberg Lettuce leaves (washed and dried).
The Toppings:
2 slices Cheddar or American Cheese.
Sliced tomatoes, onions, and pickles.
[Optional] Sugar-free ketchup or mustard.
Instructions
Form Patties: Divide the beef into 2 or 3 equal portions. Gently form them into patties.
Tip: Make a small thumb indentation in the center of each patty. This prevents them from shrinking into a ball while cooking.
Season: Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and garlic powder generously on both sides.
Preheat: Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (185°C) for 3 minutes.
Cook: Place patties in the basket in a single layer. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
8 mins for Medium-Well, 10 mins for Well-Done.
Melt Cheese: In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty. Close the air fryer (the residual heat will melt it perfectly in about 30–60 seconds).
Warning: Do not turn the fan back on, or the cheese might fly off! Just let it sit in the warm basket.
Assemble: Take a large lettuce leaf, place the cheesy patty inside, top with tomatoes and pickles, and wrap it up tight.

Common Questions
Can I use frozen patties? Yes! Frozen burger patties work great. Air fry at 370°F for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.
Does it make a mess? Surprisingly, no. The grease drips into the bottom pan. To make cleanup easier, you can put a slice of bread in the bottom drawer (under the basket) to soak up the fat and prevent smoke.
What other healthy buns can I use? If you don't like lettuce wraps, try Portobello mushroom caps or look for "Keto Buns" or "Whole Wheat Thins" at the grocery store.
Final Thoughts
This Air Fryer Cheeseburger recipe is proof that fast food can be healthy food. By swapping the bread for a fresh crunch of lettuce, you get all the flavor of a classic American diner burger without the carb coma afterwards.
