The Ultimate Air Fryer Dumplings Trio (Beef, Chicken, & Veggie)
The Ultimate Air Fryer Dumplings Trio (Beef, Chicken, & Veggie)
We all love those crispy, pan-fried dumplings (potstickers) from our favorite Asian restaurant. The crunchy bottom, the tender skin, and the juicy filling are addictive.
But making them at home traditionally means standing over a hot stove, dealing with splattering oil, and praying they don't stick to the pan.
This Air Fryer Dumplings recipe changes everything. It’s the easiest way to get that irresistible crunch without the greasy mess. We are giving you three filling options—Beef, Chicken, and Vegetable—so you can create the ultimate dim sum feast right in your kitchen.
The Secret to "Crispy-Chewy" Texture (Crucial Step!)
If you just throw dumplings in an air fryer, the wrappers dry out and become tough. The secret is a two-part attack:
Generous Oil: You must spray the dumplings well so the wrapper fries instead of dehydrates.
A Touch of Steam: Adding a tablespoon or two of water to the bottom of the air fryer basket creates steam, keeping the wrappers tender while the hot air crisps the outside.
Ingredients: The Wrappers & Sauce
Wrappers: 1 pack of round Dumpling or Gyoza wrappers (store-bought saves so much time!).
Water bowl: For sealing the edges.
Oil Spray: Essential for crunch.
Quick Dipping Sauce: 4 tbsp Soy Sauce + 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar + 1 tsp Sesame Oil + pinch of chili flakes.
Choose Your Filling (Makes ~20 of each type)
1. Savory Beef Filling
½ lb Ground Beef (not too lean).
2 Green Onions (finely chopped).
1 tbsp Soy Sauce.
1 tsp Sesame Oil.
1 tsp Fresh Ginger (grated).
1 tsp Cornstarch (binds the juices).
2. Juicy Chicken Filling
½ lb Ground Chicken.
½ cup finely shredded Cabbage (squeeze out excess water).
1 clove Garlic (minced).
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce (or soy sauce).
1 tsp Sesame Oil.
Black Pepper to taste.
3. Fresh Veggie Filling (Vegan)
1 cup finely chopped Cabbage & Carrots (sautéed briefly to soften).
½ cup Shiitake Mushrooms (finely chopped).
1 tsp Soy Sauce.
1 tsp Ginger (minced).
1 tsp Cornstarch mixed with 1 tsp water.
Instructions
Make the Filling: Mix the ingredients for your chosen filling(s) in separate bowls. Mix until well combined and slightly sticky.
Fold: Place a wrapper in your palm. Dip your finger in water and moisten the edge of the top half. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center. Fold the wrapper over to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges tightly to seal (you can pleat them if you know how, or just press flat).
Preheat & Prep: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the basket lightly with oil.
Arrange: Place the dumplings in a single layer in the basket, not touching.
The Secret Step: Spray the tops of the dumplings generously with oil. Then, carefully pour about 2 tablespoons of water into the bottom of the air fryer basket (under the rack/crisper plate if you have one) to create steam.
Cook: Air fry for 8–10 minutes. Check halfway. They are done when the edges are golden brown and crispy, and the filling is cooked through.
Serve: Serve immediately with the dipping sauce.

Common Questions
Can I cook frozen store-bought dumplings this way? Yes! This is a hugely popular method. Do not thaw them. Arrange frozen dumplings in the basket, spray well with oil, add water to the bottom, and air fry at 380°F for 10–14 minutes.
My dumplings came out hard, what happened? Not enough oil or no steam. Make sure to spray them thoroughly and don't skip adding the splash of water to the basket.
How do I store leftovers? Air-fried dumplings are best eaten fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in the fridge and reheat in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes to crisp them back up.
